Case Number: 22

BEFORE   AFTER

Multiple areas of malignant lesions were found on this 51 year old's routine mammogram. She underwent a left mastectomy and stacked DIEP flaps breast reconstruction. Stacked flaps or two for one is a situation where flaps from both sides of the abdomen are used to make a single larger breast. The blood supplies to each flap are joined microsurgically so that each flap is healthy. The more ususal situation is is to use one side of the abdomen to make the breast and remove the other side to end up with a symetrical tummy tuck. The right breast was lifted and reduced slightly.
