This 36 year old woman with a 2 year old child underwent a right modified radical mastectomy through a circumareolar (skin sparing) incision with a short lateral extension. The nipple was reconstructed secondarily with the skin from the skin island of the DIEP flap, and the areola was reconstructed with a skin graft from the groin.  She had only two surgeries.  She spent 3 days in the hospital for the first surgery. The second surgery to create the nipple areola complex was done as an outpatient.  The nipple was later tattooed in my office.

This lady is 35 years old.  She underwent a left modified radical mastectomy through a skin sparing  incision.  Nipple and areola were reconstructed as above.

Five years ago this 51 year old lady had a left modified radical mastectomy and DIEP flap breast reconstruction.  Her nipple and areola have faded slightly and could be tattooed darker.

This 52 year old patient found a lump in her right breast.  She underwent a right modified radical mastectomy with DIEP flap reconstruction through a skin sparing mastectomy incision.  Secondarily she had the nipple areola reconstructed and the left breast lifted and reduced slightly.

This 54 year old patient found a lump in her right breast.  She underwent a right modified radical mastectomy with DIEP flap reconstruction through a breast reduction type incision and a prophylactic mastectomy on the left side.  The preoperative photos are on the left and the postoperative photos are on the right.  The last picture shows the abdominal scar.  Secondarily she had the nipples and areola reconstructed.
